Pegler Health and Safety Week
Health and safety has long been a topic right at the forefront of many businesses, especially throughout 2020 and entering 2021 due to the global Covid-19 Pandemic. It is something that has been at the root of our operations since the very beginning and at Pegler, we strongly believe that good safety, health & environmental (SHE) management is critical to the success of our business. Therefore, to maintain traction, we are holding a health and safety week from the 15th to the 19th of March.
The week will focus on 5 key topics, one each day of the safety
week. These key areas are:
1.Fire evacuation – Focusing on Muster points and fire exit routes.
2.Isolation including machinery guarding – Focusing on
making sure machines are isolated before entering
to protect from moving parts.
3.Forklift truck & pedestrian interaction – Focusing on
walking in the correct areas and when it is safe to do so.
4.Hand protection - Focusing on the need to wear gloves. In 2020, the body part with the highest injury rate was the hand.
5.Slips, trips and falls - A tidy work area is a safe work area and focusing on maintaining housekeeping.
The week carries the overriding aim of helping everyone to Stay Alert – Don’t Get Hurt!!
All of the above topics have been selected due to occurrences in 2020 or have been a repeating issue within our factory environment and are essential in developing a SHE culture within the business that ensures a safe place to work for all in our operational departments to meet business demands.
